Schemer Pecans Introduces Flavorful Elliot Variety at 2013 Summer 2013 Fancy Food Show

Limited Edition Collection From Wetherbee Family Stock

Schermer Pecans and the Wetherbee family are pleased to announce the addition of a new and storied pecan variety - the Elliott – to their line of retail pecans.

The Elliot seedling selection is harvested from Schermer’s Georgia orchards that date back to the first commercial plantings in America. Available in fresh shelled pecan halves or roasted and salted, Schermer’s limited edition line of Elliott Pecans offers retailers and consumers the opportunity to access a limited supply, high-quality pecan known for its robust sweet flavor and signature crunch.

Putt Wetherbee, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and descendant of turn-of-the-century commercial pecan planter Francis Flagg Putney says, “Elliott Pecans are a Wetherbee family favorite and have been for three generations. We’ve raided the family stock to give people access to a pecan grower’s favorite variety and with each bag we’ve noted the orchard of origin and how many bags are available from that particular batch.”

Hand packed in 5 ounce numbered edition kraft stand up pouches, the Elliot variety line joins the already highly touted seven varieties of pecans – from the simplicity of freshly roasted Fancy Mammoth Pecans to candied Cinnamon Glazed Pecans cooked to sight in circa 1940’s copper cauldrons and then hand-tossed in proprietary sugars and spices.

Schermer Pecans are available online at and in select gourmet retailers.  The retail line includes: Fresh & Natural Elliott Pecans, Roasted & Salted Elliott Pecans, Fancy Mammoth Pecan Halves, Fancy Mammoth Pecan Pieces, Roasted & Salted Pecans, Dark Chocolate Pecans, Chocolate Covered Pecans, Cinnamon Glazed Pecans and Caramel Pecan Clusters. Prices range from $9-15.

Nearly 65 years after the founding of Schermer Pecans, the company and its dedicated family of growers and candy makers continue to take pride in their pecans from the planting of the orchards, to harvesting the pecans, to packaging their many varieties.

Schermer Pecans range from the simplicity of the finest Fancy Mammoth Pecans to pecans combined with hand-pulled caramel or cooked to sight and candied in 1940’s copper cauldrons.
