Angie Cook's Pecan Crescents

Pecan Crescents
From Angie Cook, Hester & Cook, Nashville, TN

1 cup salted butter
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup pecans, chopped fine in food processor
1 teaspoon vanilla
Confectioners sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar, then add flour, nuts and vanilla.
  3. Using hands, shape into crescents or other shapes as desired, or use cookie cutter for hearts hearts or simple rounds..
  4. Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and place on cooling rack for a short time until warm but not hot.
  6. Roll warm cookies in confectioners sugar, place in airtight container, and sift sugar over each layer to prevent sticking.
