Community Roots: At Home with Andrea Potischman of Simmer + Sauce

Northern California-based Andrea Potischman is an accomplished former NYC professional chef who traded the hectic life of the Manhattan professional kitchen for the rewarding role of food blogger and mom to two in Silicon Valley.

She chronicles her unique journey in the Manhattan culinary world here - choosing culinary school instead of law school - which all of her devoted Simmer + Sauce followers greatly appreciate! On her inspiration for Simmer + Sauce, Andrea shared "I believe food connects us all because it is something we all need. I cook (and eat) all types foods, in moderation. I draw from all types of cuisines when developing and writing recipes which are doable for all types of home cooks. "

We couldn't help but ask Andrea about a nostalgic baking moment. She shared "Chocolate pecan turtles are one of my favorite chocolate treats. My association with turtles goes way back. My dad loved them and used to get them when we went skiing in Colorado. As a young kid, I almost always opted for the larger sweet treat at the chocolate shop (a caramel apple), but my dad always picked up a few extra turtles which he would willingly share with me the next day. These easy-to-make confections are rich and heavenly and don’t take long to make. That said, with so few ingredients required, it's essential to use good quality pecans and chocolate, it makes all the difference." Andrea kindly shared her recipe for Chocolate Pecan Turtles HERE.
